Important announcement

We are writing to confirm that Magellan has taken the decision to close for new business. Customers may continue to complete where a mortgage offer has been issued and has not expired, although mortgage offers will not be extended or materially varied.

Therefore, if your customer wishes to complete using our current mortgage offer, please ensure that completion occurs prior to its expiry date. It should be noted that the mortgage offer confirms that the Certificate of Title and request for funds should be submitted to us six days prior to the date of completion.

Working with Magellan Homeloans

We are happy to accept an applicant proposed Solicitor to act for us provided the firm meets the following requirements:

  • England & Wales - the firm has a minimum of 4 SRA Approved Manager registered with the Law Society. Please note for firms with more than one office there is no minimum requirement for SRA Approved Managers in the office acting in the transaction.
  • Scotland - the firm has a minimum of 4 Scottish Partners registered with the Scottish Law Society.
  • The individuals working on the transaction have the relevant experience.
  • Magellan Homeloans will not accept Licenced Conveyancers.

We reserve the right to amend our criteria and/or refuse a firm at our sole discretion at any time. Our decision shall be final without negotiation.

Magellan Homeloans adheres to the provisions of the UK Finance Mortgage Lender’s Handbook for conveyancers which form the basis of the contract between Magellan Homeloans and the firm, applying to anyone acting in a conveyancing transaction on our behalf.
